Let's start over.

I've been on and off blogging for almost five years now and I feel like my personality has been muddled.  You see, I just happened to get into the Internet at the same time I started that awkward transition known as being a preteen.  I once wrote a blog under the name "Storm" after that I wrote on "Lucy's blog" then the carrot and now here.  I feel like the best way to start writing again is to have a fresh start.  So, hi, I'm Lucy.  I'm fourteen, homeschooled and my favorite movie is The Goofy Movie.  That about sums it up.  If you want to get to know me better, scroll down my twitter @llmcgillicutie I'm mildly proud of my tweets.

You've grown up with me.

I've been a so-called "blogger" for five years (give or take one). I've become a young woman, and with support of my parents, friends, and a handful of people that read a post or two, I've been able to catalogue my experience.  Sure, I dropped off a few times, and absolutely, some of the things I wrote are face-palm worthy.  With that being said I want to thank people like Ali Cross, Kirsten Miller, and Beth Revis, who encouraged me along the way.  As young as I was, I had more than enough support to keep writing.  For that reason and more, I am monumentally blessed to be able to look back and revel in all of the awkward transitions leading up to being a freshman in highschool. (Let me tell you, I don't use the word awkward lightly!) Thank you to every last one of the friends, teachers, and authors who inspired the uncoolcarrot, Abnerette, blogs which shall not be named.  You know who you are, I hope.

Love,

Books

Today I had the honor of meeting the up-and-coming children's author, Britta Nell Jackson. She is a lovely, sweet woman from my home town and the author of Giovanni Spider Hunter (Hunt One)
The book follows Giovanni, a brave, bold, strong, and powerful big game hunter of spiders from the wide open high plains. The book is illustrated by Paige Nester.  The narration of the book flows really well and the spiders are really cute and colorful.  This is a great book for any boy or girl and I can tell you, both of my brothers Gabe (2) and Andrew (9) love the book and we can't wait for another.

In other news, I got Lois Lowry's new book "Son" and I'm really excited to read it. Will have you know, I'm writing this BEFORE I read it.  Discipline, guys, it's what's for dinner.  I'll be here again tomorrow.

Until then.

The Weekend

It's Friday night. That means tomorrow is Saturday.  Many of you are probably thinking one of two things: "Whooooo!!!!!! Weekend time, yippee!"  or you are thinking, "I am going to write the biz out of tomorrow!!!!"   I'm stuck somewhere in between.  In my experience, Saturday brings Sunday and Sunday just brings another Monday.  Monday means more school that I won't finish until friday and so on until I give up on NaNoWriMo. Part of me wants to prove that I can finish and the rest of me wants to hide in a cave until December.  Either way, I plan to keep blogging here.  Oh! I almost forgot!  I have an official title and new idea for the book I plan to write whether I do NaNo or not! You can look at my profile on the NaNo website, some things don't change, I'm still uncoolcarrot.
I'll write more soon.

Until then.

Gravity Falls

Get excited, guys. Today I have TWO, count 'em, TWO post for you. I didn't post yesterday and I just posted about NaNo so this comes to you in three parts, enjoy!
PART ONE!
Recent obsessions:
This has been something I've wanted to do for a while now and I have the perfect obsession to start with...

GRAVITY FALLS.  It's a new show on Disney channel and get this, IT'S ACTUALLY GOOD!  In fact, it's fantastic and I'm gonna tell you why!

1. The jokes are perfectly timed and worded.

2. The characters are so great. I mean, MABEL! Best character ever.

3. Groucho Marx!!!! They made a Groucho Marx reference!!! The best way to get on my good side: know who Groucho is.

Also, shout out to the Gravity Falls Gossiper Podcast! You guys make my day every new episode and it's so great that this fantastic show is being recognized.

I lied about the other two parts so I guess this is goodbye.

Until next time.

On the Edge of NaNo and Slipping

It's November 1st.  For a few insane individuals, that means NaNoWriMo time.  If you don't know, NaNo is the month that a few brave individuals set aside for writing a novel in November.  I have a problem.  I am absolutely terrified.  I have very little free time, I failed epically last year, and I have VERY little idea of the story I want to write.  Notice I haven't told you whether or not I'm actually doing NaNo.  That's because I don't know.  I started writing today but I don't know where to go from here.  My character is Named Ophie Persimmons and I just don't know.  I hope to give you the verdict tomorrow.  Until then, I'll write and hey, maybe I'll just never make up my mind and keep writing until I realize I've written a novel!

Good luck if you're doing NaNo!

Back on the blogging train! TOOT, TOOT!

Well, the summer is almost gone, I'm nearly a whole two years older than I was when I started the uncool carrot, and I'm going to start blogging again. It's been a while and I'm pretty sure no one cares what I have to post anymore, but I've procrastinated long enough. Recently, I've started a photography internship at my church, which sounds pretty official until I tell you I work for my dad. (It might be bias talking, but my dad swears I'm just as good as any other intern he's ever had, despite my age.) Besides the internship I would like to say I've been working on a novel or something else productive, but in reality, it's been a new show. Namely, "Gravity Falls". Wait! A show! On DISNEY CHANNEL! Actually GOOD?! The answer is YES! An exclaimed, shouting-from-the-rooftops, enthusiastic, capslocked YES! Long story short, I'm obsessed and I feel as though Disney has finally done something right and I can let off of my rants for a while. It feels great.

Well, until next time!

                                         Love,

I feel like I just travelled forward in time. I was just thinking about this post and I could have sworn I posted it yesterday. Just a little comment to myself.
